CCVL alumnus Jieneng Chen was profiled by Scientific American as a young scientist creating AI tools for better cancer detection.

The feature highlights his work on TransUNet, which blends convolutional neural networks with transformer architectures to identify tumor boundaries in medical images. Jieneng carried out his AI research at Johns Hopkins in Prof. Yuille’s group before joining Stanford.
